Random Acts of Kindness

Since today is Valentine’s Day, and love and kindness are on all of your minds, here are 14 Random Acts of Kindness to consider doing with your children:

  1. Donate books your children no longer read to Cariboo Partners for Literacy or the library
  2. Connect with a local care home to see about having your children pay a visit – sadly many residents in care do not have many visitors
  3. Pick up garbage at a local park or school
  4. Offer to help a neighbour with a chore or surprise them by shoveling the snow from their driveway
  5. Salt the sidewalks in your neighbourhood
  6. Write thank you notes to someone in the community who has been kind to you – it could be a cashier, a receptionist, or gas station attendant
  7. Have your children hand out bubbles ( or other another low cost toy) to other kids at the park
  8. Leave change in a vending machine with a note to pay it forward
  9. Have your child call their grandparents
  10. Have a bake sale and donate the money raised to a local non-profit (eg. Boys & Girls Club, Williams Lake Hospice Society, Big Brothers & Sisters, Food Bank)
  11. Purchase a Good Food Box for a stranger
  12. Donate clothes your child no longer fits, or toys they no longer play with to the Women’s Contact Society, Pregnancy Outreach Program, or Chiwid House (through the Cariboo Friendship Society)
  13. Participate in 4Sure Bistro’s Pay It Forward Campaign by purchasing a $5 food token
  14. Bring a donation of non-perishable food items to the Food Bank
