Program Description

This is a Provincial program that is designed specifically to meet the needs of children offering support through their developmental stages.  ASCD recognizes that inclusion and providing intervention and support childcare settings during the early stages of development are important.

Who can use this program?

Aboriginal children who are residents of BC.  Children must be between 3 to 12 years old.  The child must have a developmental disability of delay in one of the four areas: physical, cognitive, communicative or social/emotional/behavioral.

How do I use this program? Do I need a referral?

No diagnosis is required to receive services.  No referral is needed.  Can contact the Aboriginal Supported Child Development Consultant.

What services are offered?

The first meeting with the Aboriginal Supported Child Development Consultant will do an development screening and assessment on child.

The ASCD Consultant  can assist families in finding childcare, provide support and consultation to childcare settings, do development screening and assessments and in some cases provide extra staffing support if needed in child care programs.
