Program Description

Supporting Aboriginal families and children who require extra support in their communities and child care setting, both on and off reserve.

Who can use this program?

Support is available for families of aboriginal children that meet the following three criteria:

  1.  Child must be between the ages of 0 – 12 years old
  2. Child must have a developmental delay or disability in one of four areas:
    • Physical
    • Cognitive
    • Communicative
    • Social/ Emotional/ Behavioural
  3. Child requires additional support in a childcare setting because of the developmental delay or disability.

How do I use this program? Do I need a referral?

A referral is not needed to get service, call the front desk and you will be directed to the Aboriginal Supported Child Development program.

What services are offered?

  • Workshops for parents and caregivers
  • Support in classroom or childcare setting
  • Individual planning
  • Support for families, teachers, and childcare providers
  • Assistance accessing other community resources and health professionals
  • Doing development screening and assessments at the request of the family
