Program Description

This is a Provincial program that is designed specifically to meet the needs of children through their early developmental stages.  AIDP recognizes that inclusion and providing intervention and supportive childcare settings during the early stages of development are important.

Who can use this program?

Aboriginal children who are residents of BC.  Children must be newborn to 3 years old.  The child must have a developmental disability of delay in one of the four areas: physical, cognitive, communicative or social/emotional/behavioral.

How do I use this program? Do I need a referral?

No diagnosis is required to receive services.  No referral is needed. Parents can contact the Aboriginal Infant Development Consultant directly.

What services are offered?

The first meeting with the Aboriginal Infant Development Consultant will include a development screening and assessment on child.  The AIDP consultant can do home visits and offer any support where needed.
